Crack

Ever since I was a kid, I really liked to eat candy. Except that when I did, it would throw me into a sugar high from hell. Just with anything else, I would over do it and run around in a rage. It never really changed the older I got. Just that I would try to avoid eating anything with a lot of sugar.(part of the reason I become a goofy shit head when I drink) Its to the point that some of my friends try to keep me from eating for the greater good of everyone.  I think my forgot about this somewhere along the way because she walked in my room and put this on my desk.

Tony and Huyen’s Wed day

Even though my eye looked like I had eyeliner on it, I had to show up to my boy Tony’s wedding. I have known Tony a good portion of my life.  I had Sunday school with his sister since we were in second grade and known his family since then.  As much as we razz each other, the guy is always there for his friends and has found a great girl.

We knew most of the people at the wedding so it was really comfortable. Figuring that we finished all the alcohol 3/4 of the way through the reception it was on the verge of out of control.  But super fun none the less. Congrats guys!

Battle with the ball

 black eye

I had a really fun day today. I got a hair cut, went to 2 batting cages with Paul and Naoto.  We finished off the day with a game of catch at the park by Paul’s house.  This is when things went sour.  As I was going to catch a ball, I miscalculated its trajectory.  Instead of catching it with my glove, I caught it with my eye instead.

Learn something new today: if you fight with a solid object, that solid object usually wins.

今日、直人とPaulといっしょにバッティングセンターに行った。そのあとキャチボールやってました。めちゃ楽しかったけど、野球ボールとけんかした。おれ負けた!はい。馬鹿です。

Inventory

I was talking to Ken and he asked me how many rounds I had left. I was interested to know too.  Turns out I didn’t have as much as I thought. 30rnd mags run through them faster than I thought.  But I guess its one of those things that you can’t ever have enough of.

Ball and glove

To continue on with the theme of getting things that are unnecessary to my life, I got something else.  I have been trying to go to the batting cages as much as I can and I have convinced Naoto to join me.  He is honestly more of a golf guy, but I won him over after I told him that he won’t leave the cages as frustrated as he leaves the driving range.(I was wrong about this by the way) After going to the cages a couple times, he told me that it would be fun to change it up and play catch.  So we agreed to go out to Chicks, since they are having a liquidation sale, and pick up some gloves.

I tried to do some homework on the net and figure out what to get.  Since I used to live with a fanatical baseball family in Japan, I already had an idea of what gloves cost.  When we got there, we were bummed to find it was only 10% off.  But any discount is a good discount.  Naoto was really bummed when he saw that the only gloves they had left were on the high end side.  His jaw dropped a little when he saw that the majority of gloves cost $200 plus.  But nothing good is ever easy.  After a bit of digging, we found the exact glove I was looking for.

We both picked up Mizuno MVP Prime 12″ gloves.  Its supposed to be a solid all around glove.  We found out soon enough as we went straight to the park by Naoto’s place.  After playing catch for about an hour or so, I discovered a couple things.

1. I really suck at baseball
2. If getting hit by a baseball hurts this much at our slow ass speed, getting hit by a major league pitcher has got to suck ass.
3. You don’t realize how much energy you go through running around catching balls.
4. Not all bugs that fly around are gnats. Some are really big mosquitoes.
5. I really suck at baseball

Headcase

Sometime… scratch that, most of the time I buy shit I don’t need and put off the shit I really do need.  I was at Dynamic and Eddie showed me some new HJC helmets he started carrying.  Honestly, I have wanted a new helmet for a while and my mom has actually been pressuring me to get one with all the time I spend at the track.  So after some convincing, really little actually, I am the owner of a new AR10 HJC helmet.

Whats the point?  Well the point is that I never drive on track.  I am always behind the pit wall.  Who am I fooling?  Everyone around me, mostly RR, is constantly telling me to start getting behind the wheel and not stay behind the wrench. Lets see if this is the catalyst.  Then again I will probably running a muck with a guy I know.

If you are looking for a nice helmet at a solid price, call dirtnamics and ask them. 949-457-1234

Blogs and Links

I kind of just add links to blogs and sites as I go along.  But I realized I haven’t taken a real assessment of the links I had on there for a while.  So I just tried to update some new links and blogs since I made this site.  I see what people are clicking on in the stats and I appreciate you all checking out my friends and the people I support. I can say that with the exception of the NPB tracker, all these people have helped me out or affected my life in some sort of way.

Drifting around

For the past week or so, I have been trying to help out my buddies Ed and Adam prep some cars for the opening event of this year’s Formula D series.  This year, the boys at Dynamic picked up a new driver, Eric O’Sullivan, and set out to build a driftspec Subaru GDB for him.  As time drew closer and closer, it became apparent that they needed a little bit of assistance. Ed asked me to come and lend a helping hand.  Unfortunately I caught a cold and was bed ridden for about a week.  As soon as I could suck it up, I went out there to do what I can for Adam.

After about a week of sleepless nights, for them not me. They got the car done.  Ed asked me if I could lend a helping hand at the track too, so I agreed.(this friendship is getting harder and harder by the minute)  After figuring out some issues with how to set the car up, we got Eric to qualify for the big show.  Robbie in the Z33 finished all the way to 4th place, a hair shy from podium.  All in all both cars did well and we collected some good data.  Hopefully they can push the results even higher for round 2 in Atalanta.  Props to the crew: Ed, Jason, Eugene, Braydon, Jeff, Paul and especially Adam who worked so hard he fell asleep under the car with a wrench in his hand.
