Super Charged

I got sent out, with Henry, to Church’s in Torrance to meet up with Doug from Hondata for an up coming story.  After trying out the K-Pro a couple times, I finally got to meet the man behind it and pick his brain a little.  I drilled him for a good 20-30min about everything I wanted to know about K-Pro and he gave me a little insight on things I didn’t.  I am a hater when it comes to all things tuning car related, but I have a resounding thumbs up to the Hondata Family of systems.  They are all straight forward and easy to tune.  You tell it to do something and it will do it. Best of all, it will start and idle like a factory ecu.

Doug mentioned to me before hand that Oscar Jackson would also be there, R&Ding some super charger parts.  Think of what you may about superchargers, but this man has been at the fore front of this industry before I was born.  For the last couple of years, I would drive past his old building wondering ever happened to Jackson Superchargers. Turns out he went into retirement and moved away. He is now back with a new company called Kraftwerks and building Rotorex supercharger kits.  It was interesting to hear perspective of this industry from someone with the amount of experience he has.

Special mention to Kirk Miller of AEM who popped in out of no where.

Pimp my ride

I went to go have lunch with my brother and Jimmy. When we pulled into the parking spot, we found this G-ride parked next to us.

The graphics on this thing is dope enough, but peep the crowning jewel.

This thing is so sick, its got a eagle on the grill. AN EAGLE SON! I tried to take a picture of the owner as he was going to his car, but he proved to be too elusive. This thing is truly world class.

Beat Junkies

When I was a sophomore in high school, I sat next to this dude that was a dead head. Slippers, dreads, band shirts, Dude was the quintessential hippie. Super nice guy. One day he asked me if I have ever heard of a group called Wu-Tang. I replied yeah I heard of them but never listened to it. He retorted with “dude you got to check them out. They talk about some crazy shit.”

That day I went to the Tower records that used to be at the Tustin Marketplace and bought Enter the 36 Chambers.  The only cd player in my house at the time was in the living room of my parents house. I sat and listened.(My parents came home while I was on Wu Tang Clan Ain’t Nothing to Fuck With)

Before this point, all I knew was Gangsta Rap. That album changed my whole outlook on music and hip-hop as a culture.  It sounds a bit obscure now, but at that point in my life it was all that was relevent. I searched for more, Boot Camp Click, Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest.  As time rolled on, Djing became more and more popular. For LA heads it was all about the Beat Junkies. SF had the Picklez and the East Coast was the X-Ecutioners. But the Beat Junkies represented for LA.  They would play gigs all over LA, but I was always excited to see the Beatjunkies. Any time those dudes were doing a show, we would roll out. Over the years, I have met Rhettmatic though mutual friends randomly and the man is always gracious and humble.  Its been a really long time since I have been to a hip hop show, but I ran across Rhett’s twitter and found out they are doing a show coming up.  Who wants to roll?

School Daze

Been back from J-land for about 2 weeks now and I really haven’t found the motivation to update my blog at all. I started school now and I feel damn old going to class. Honestly, I am not the oldest guy in class. But I definitely on the fringe. I don’t really talk to anyone and basically try to get the hell out of dodge once class is over. School sure has changed since the last time I went. Everyone is on their phone text messaging the whole time or on their laptop looking at facebook or youtube. Shit is pretty retarded, but I guess I was pretty retarded 10 years ago too. But I digress.  Here is a little review of the end of my Japan trip.

I flew on Korean air this time as it was the cheapest flight I could find. The thing about Korean air is that the service is super good. There really isn’t even a comparison when it comes to American carriers. The cabin attendants, bomb. The food, above par for airplane food. My only gripe is that they don’t give you your own monitors like the other airlines. You have to share with everyone else old school style. This flight back also had horrible turbulence.  For 45min that shit shook like it was going to come apart. Not no bitch ass bumps either. Like loosing altitude shit is about to hit the fan bumpy.  To the point that I thought I was going to loose it. I have been flying regularly for the past 11 years and for the first time I really thought there was a chance this shit might go down. Too bad It didn’t go down by Santa Monica, I could have come up like people in the Hudson River.

I took some photos on my way out of Japan and I finally decided to post them.

Every time I go in or out, I am carry my trusty 2 bags. They are usually filled with part and weigh about 70lbs each. But this time I only carried back clothes with me, so they were relatively light. Relative is the key word.

My last view of Nagano for a long while. Not sure when the next time I will get to see this. A part of me already misses it.

The Narita express. I always see a group of lost tourists confused out of their minds when I am waiting for the train out to Narita.
